Our Philosophy

We feel that our mission is as important today as it was when we were founded in 1949. In a nation built on the ideas of liberty and individual rights, it is important that the leaders of tomorrow understand their civic obligations. It is equally important for our youth to personally internalize the importance of maintaining the "American Way of Life," to honor it by their own exemplary conduct and preserve it for succeeding generations. Post September 11th terrorist attacks and continuing threats, episodes of violence in the schools, calls for character education, drop out rates and the Administration's efforts to bring civics education back to the classroom all indicate there is a need for effective instruction in civics and government, so that the youth of America have an understanding of our nation and its heritage, as well as their role as responsible citizens. Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge is the place for just such an education. It is our vision to become America's School for Citizenship Education.
