Freedoms Foundation was founded in 1949. The Foundation's historic 85-acre campus is located adjacent to Valley Forge National Historic Park. The roots of the Foundation can be traced back to 1777 when the campus served as part of Washington's encampment. Today the campus includes three dormitories, dining, educational and administrative facilities, a non-denominational chapel, and recreational areas. From 1949 to 1965 the Foundation was known for its awards programs honoring Americans from all walks of life, organizations and institutions who set examples in responsible citizenship, free enterprise education, and long-term civic accomplishment. Freedoms Foundation is supported entirely by private gifts from volunteer chapters nationwide and by corporations, foundations, civic organizations, and individuals throughout America.
For 56 years, Freedoms Foundation has been one of the nation's premiere organizations for citizenship education. The Foundation's historic 85-acre campus allows for a unique residential experience, where participants are immersed in history and civics. Since 1965, over 50,000 students and nearly 10,000 educators have participated in the Foundation's programs. Since 1949, nearly 55,000 individuals and organizations have been recognized for their accomplishments in the Foundation's Awards Programs.
